In 1972, a group of four nurses became alert to the proposed changes in licensure requirement of the Colorado State Board of Nursing. There were no professional nursing organizations that had membership category for the non-practicing nurse, and affordable educational offerings were not available. Through the efforts and vision of these four inspired nurses, the organization began and steadily grew from an ad hoc group of the Colorado Nurses Association in 1972 to a recognized conference group in 1973. In 1980 they became the independent Non-Practicing and Part-Time Nurses Association. As the organization moved into the 21st Century the leadership added the name Nurse Link to make the organization and programs more accessible to nurses looking for education, information on community resources and networking. There are currently five regions that offer education, networking, social and resource opportunities; Boulder, Colorado Springs, Littleton, Metro Denver West, and Northglenn.

Scholarship

• Scholarship: $600 awarded annually at the May Sprinng Luncheon
• Eligibility: Any nurse (RN or LPN) who resides within the State of Colorado and has a current Colorado nurses’ license.  Applicant must demonstrate financial need and desire to further her/his education in the field of nursing or a related health care program, such as:
  • Associate Degree for RN’s and LPN’s  
  • Baccalaureate or higher  degree
  • Non-degree certificate:
    • IV Therapy
    • RN Refresher Course
    • Nurse Practioner
    • Parish Nurse
  • Other related specialty programs
• Deadline: Received no later than midnight March 31st.  The scholarship is awarded annually in May.
